01/10/2014 In-Running Lays: Back-to-lay Alex Vino and Afatcat

3.55 Salisbury: Alex Vino returns back to 10 furlongs; a distance he has two wins over after trying a little further last time out.  Ryan more is in the saddle again today and he has ridden him positively in leading or racing right behind the pace in his last two runs.  He currently trades around 6.0 which is a great price for a back-to-lay.

4.25 Sligo: Afatcat is on a run of 9 consecutive races having traded below half his BSP in-running and should be backed to do the same today in similar race conditions.  Look to back at 20.0+ and lay off at half the back odds in-running.

  1. I have just come across your site....And I have simply fallen in love with it

  2. Hi Rayza, Glad you find the site useful. It's only been running since April/May time but the results have been good so far.

As long as Betfair keeps releasing thier in-running data I will be able to keep it running. It's great for identifying the lesser known horses you can trade in-running.

Did you trade Afatcat in the 4.25 at Sligo - it traded down to half it's price within about 30 seconds of them setting off in to a 2 mile 1 chase.

  3. Hi Phil....Not keen on the Irish racing to be honest mate

    Thats brilliant to hear

However I have traded Imperial Link,Risen Sun,Hidden Rebel,Hillgrove Angel and many more all at Crazy prices....Im currently 10 from 11 Im about £200 up

This site just gives a better idea on horses previous runs and its just what Ive been looking for

    So a million Thanks mate

  4. Hope the good results continue - I know the liquidity in the Irish markets can be quite bad at times for trading in-running.

  5. £237 up for the day.....I owe you a large drink Phil!!

Im a massive fan of Neil Munro and often heard him talking about trading %50 BSP and now I know what he's actually on about

Will you be playing the Kempton card?

    ReplyDelete
  6. No, I won't be doing Kempton - I only usually do 2 or 3 races, I just did the two today.

I usually back-to-lay at 50% unless I see one that stands out trading very short and then i'll try a shorter priced lay back at say 20% making it a 5/1 shot.

Thats's a nice profit today, are you trading in-running using software? I just set up my lays pre-race at 50% of the back price but when I get a bit more time will try it in-running using software and then I can always get out of bad trades for a loss instead of losing the whole stake.

  7. Yes Ive been using Bettrader Evo since 2008...I was a scalper but the markets are just not the same and a lot harder to read...and I have found it more and more difficult to make a living.

So I have been looking at horses I fancy and creating a free bet which has served me well,But if you don't get a couple of winners you have made nothing for the day

But its more fun with In Running and the potential to profit more of course

As I said I have been looking for a way to get into the In Running side of things as it has always interested me...And then I found you site :) This truly is my Holy Grail....I appreciate not every trade will go in your favour but with good Money Management this could be my future

So Im looking forward to tomorrow already

    Thanks again mate

    1. I've tried trading the pre-race markets but found it really hard work but like the in-running angle when you can profile horses that you are able to trade on the price movements.

I suppose as long as you’re getting an edge; doing it as a free bet it doesn’t matter as it will even out in the long run – I used to do a bit of arbing and used to like to do it as a free bet rather than just pocketing a few quid each time.

    2. Morning Phil

Hope your well buddy...Are we ready for another profitable day?

Phil do you just concentrate on the 4 & 5 star rated horses?

    3. Afternoon Rayza, I tend to use the figures more than the ratings as i'm doing back-to-lays I look for horses that have an high percentage of trading in the 50% range. I also go in to the horse's history to make sure it's being trading low in it's recent runs; then it's over to the racingpost to checkout the horse and the race.

The star rating is an overall rating of the horses trading history across all four bands with added points for consistency across a high number of races and being beaten (having a low win rate).

The racing looks a bit easier today with smaller fields so i'm hoping for good results.

    4. Having another blinding day mate...Yeah that's exactly want Ive been looking for the 50% just gives me that extra confidence.....Disappointed with Marufo but otherwise doing well mate

    5. Marufo looked to have an injury - the jockey got off him, not the best start butmore to come.

Glad to hear you are having a good day!

    6. Cant win them all mate....But I was on Bjornlucky & Tri Nations which traded really well a few nail biting moments with a few others but 10 trades with 9 winning trades,It dont get much better than that.

Going to have a hefty Back2Lay on Aragosta in the last at Kempton but Im done for the day

      Thanks again mate

    7. Good to hear you had another profitable day. May last two back-to-lays won so finished one up on the day!

    8. Morning Phil

Ive decided Ive been trading a bit too aggressive and even though Im up, I am going to set myself a target of £70-£100 a day.

I just think this will keep things sensible and I would be more than happy with that

Here's to another good day mate

    9. Hi Rayza,I found myself doing too many races and giving back money I’d made which is frustrating. So now I’m more selective and just try and find the ones that seem to standout and have a lot going for them, some days I probably shouldn’t do any but end up trying to find at least one.

The results are more erratic just doing a few but I’m sure it’s been more profitable in the long run. Today’s racing is pretty good so I’ve got more on today. If I was trading live in-running I would probably do more races but with a back-to-lay there’s no easy way of getting out quick once things start to not go the way you expect.

Good luck with your trading today!

    10. Yeah I can understand that mate, I was thinking of larger stakes on 3 or 4 with horses who have %50 across the board

Its not that if I had 2/3 consecutive horse which didnt trade well I could wipe out a total days profit

But I can see me doing this from now on with a tweek here and there

The secret is not to be greedy

      Have a good one Phil

  8. Hello Phill,

I just want to say thanks for this great site and for sharing your trades.

I usually only trade the well known strong front runners like Kilcarry Bridge
and Arabian Flight which will be running soon at Kempton, it has a good draw and always shoots off at speed, and with Wotalad and Big City Boy NR's I can't see anything else taking the lead. Liquidity isn't the best in the evening though, and looking at the IPMIN history it doesn't look that good, so will probably just leave it.

I'd recommend using software though as you can just hedge up across all of the horses for a small loss if it's not going to plan, but if it's going well you can start to put lays in as the odds go lower and reduce your liability. When you spot that the odds aren't going to go any lower, then you can just greenup.

Good call on the Fatcat I was about to back it at 20's, missed it and just watched it drop to 10's then as soon as it started to lead it dropped to about 6.8 ish maybe lower. You were spot on though, thanks.

Well done Rayza that's a nice profit.

    1. Hi Wilf, Glad you’re finding the website useful – probably better than my tips on here :)

I expected Afatcat to lead but didn’t get to lead straight-away but the market over-reacted as soon as it rushed through. It only took about 30 seconds to get matched so didn’t watch it after that to know what it traded down to. I just managed to get on at 20.0 but missed the 22.0 as I was hoping to get matched at 24.0.

I have my favourite horses to; Dr Irv and Safety Check and a lot of Mark Johnston horses.

The ratings and selections on the In-running Results page are the day’s highest rated selection based on their in-running trading history with no input from me. The early results were much better as I changed the ranking slightly, I had originally slightly devalued horses that won a lot (as I was looking more for horses that would get beaten at shorts prices) so I may move it back to how it was as it’s also highlighting too many horses.

  9. Thanks Wilf

Its all due to Phil's site and a tiny bit of work from me

I just wished I found this site sooner

I totally agree about using software....One click and your out if things don't go according to plan

In Running is so fast paced without software the sharks will be looking for you.
